Background and Problem Context
The company's educational team heavily relies on content supplied by support engineers, who are Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Upon receiving this content, the educational team proceeds to create a storyboard, develop a script, record voiceovers, produce instructional videos, and subsequently release them on the company's Academy platform. Given the nature of the company being in the software industry, the primary focus is on crafting how-to videos.
To streamline this process, the educational team furnishes a video script template to assist SMEs in consolidating their content. SMEs provide screenshots depicting specific software functions, along with concise narratives within the video script document. Any special instructions they may have are noted in the production notes section of the document.
It's imperative that these screenshots adhere to certain quality standards to ensure that the visual content in the videos is sharp, clear, and easily comprehensible to customers. In instances where the screenshots fail to meet these requirements, they must be retaken. This can be a time-consuming task, and SMEs may not always have the availability, leading to delays in the production of video content.
Solution
The instructor-led course aims to align SMEs and the education team on the minimum screen capture requirements. It will be particularly beneficial when welcoming a new product group to the company tasked with creating educational content, as it swiftly familiarizes all new SMEs with the necessary standards.
Results
The desired result is to eliminate any ambiguity regarding the screenshot requirements and significantly reduce the number of rejected screenshots.
