Background and Problem Context

The company's educational team relies on the content provided by support engineers, the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). From the content received, the educational team builds out a storyboard and script, records the voiceover, produces the video, and publishes it to the company's Academy. This is a software company so it is mostly how-to videos.

To simplify the process, the educational team provides a video script template document to assist the SMEs in compiling the content.  The SMEs provide screenshots of a specific software product function. In the video script document, the SMEs provide a brief narrative on these screenshots and add any special instructions, if any, in the production note section of the document.

The screenshots need to be of a certain quality to ensure the visual content for the video is crisp, clear, and easy to consume by the customer.

If the screenshots do not meet the requirements, it has to be recaptured. This is time-consuming and the SMEs do not always have the time leading to delays in producing the video content.

Solution

A job aid designed for Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to serve as a convenient reference for verifying whether their screenshots meet the essential criteria.

Results

The desired result is to eliminate any ambiguity regarding the screenshot requirements and significantly reduce the number of rejected screenshots.
